Here at Lookers we are recruiting for a Cyber Security Engineer, with a fully remote approach and occasional travel to team meetings. Reporting to the IT Security Team Lead, an exciting and hands‑on role where you will be responsible for all aspects of security across Lookers IT, including our dealerships and online presence.
Responsibilities
- Providing assurance that our new and existing services remain sufficiently secure, so that we can provide an outstanding retail experience and remain trusted by our customers.
- Performing Daily Security Operations Tasks; owning and addressing operational incidents, escalating as necessary, continuously improving operational tasks to ensure ongoing effectiveness.
- Acting as Subject Matter Expert for one or more of our core security technology tools; ensuring it remains fit for purpose, full lifecycle management, training others in the use of it, both within the team and the wider IT community.
- Owning items on the team's backlog and roadmap; delivering point solutions, assessing wider change initiatives for security compliance, remediating known deficiencies, addressing outputs of penetration tests, purple teaming, risk and audit findings.

- Always encourages a calm approach to the work environment around them, even when faced with the most challenging of situations.
- Builds on successful initiatives to gain acceptance of ideas, including building behind the scenes support for ideas and initiatives.
- Clearly identifies what constitutes the appropriate level of workload for self and others, ensuring processes and tasks are planned to limit levels of stress, whilst remaining productive.
- 2 years+ experience in a similar Cyber Security role.
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft security (Defender, Sentinel, Intune).
- A solid understanding of core IT concepts is essential; this should cover a working knowledge of both IT Infrastructure and IT Service Management.
- Problem solving capability, and ability to "join the dots" into a bigger picture.
- An independent worker who can take ownership, build, operate, continuously improve and deliver.
- Capability to "go beyond the tools" and deliver the necessary outcomes through own innovation and scripting/development where needed.
