Job description

Cyber Security Engineer at Tesco

As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will develop, implement, and continuously improve Tesco's cyber security prevention capabilities both day-to-day and strategically across the Tesco Group.

You will understand the changing threat landscape, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure appropriate coverage for the organization. You will collaborate with teams such as security operations, detection engineering, risk & compliance, and subsidiary businesses.

This role involves protecting a large and diverse estate of assets and identities, both on-premises and in the cloud, including servers and user workstations.

Your responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining technical prevention controls across endpoint and email systems, focusing on Data Loss Prevention (DLP), system hardening, and secure configuration.

You must ensure prevention capabilities are suitable for both on-premises and cloud environments, working at scale across various asset types.

You may also support cybersecurity incidents, conduct security testing, and collaborate with security teams to automate processes and standardize strategies for improved efficiency and data protection.

Required Skills and Experience
  1. Hands-on experience with cybersecurity prevention platforms (antivirus, endpoint protection)
  2. Knowledge of at least one programming or scripting language such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash
  3. Familiarity with security frameworks for data protection and data classification methodologies
  4. Understanding of hardening & compliance frameworks like CIS
  5. Working knowledge of REST APIs
