Job summary

Lorien in Manchester is seeking Cyber Security Consultant (Defence Sector, Security Cleared or Clearance Eligible) to join a hybrid team. You will work on cyber engagements for defence and security-sensitive clients, delivering technical security testing, assurance, or advising on strategy, risk and compliance, depending on your experience.

You will present findings to clients, help lead workstreams, and mentor colleagues.

Cyber Security Consultant (Defence Sector, Security Cleared or Clearance Eligible), Manchester

A leading Big Four professional services firm is hiring cyber professionals in Manchester and the North West who hold security clearance or are eligible to obtain it, to support a growing programme of defence related work. If you have worked on sensitive or government projects, or you would like to move into that area, this is a role well worth a look.

The roles cover both cyber defence and cyber strategy work, so technical, assurance and advisory backgrounds are all of interest. The focus is mainly Manager level, with some Assistant Manager opportunities, and you could be delivering client engagements, leading workstreams and mentoring colleagues.

What you could be doing

• Working on cyber engagements for defence and other security-sensitive clients
• Delivering technical security testing and assurance, or advising on security strategy, risk and compliance, depending on your experience
• Working closely with clients and presenting findings and recommendations clearly
• For more experienced people, leading engagements and supporting the development of others

What you will bring

• Current security clearance, or eligibility to obtain it (eligibility usually depends on UK residency and background checks, and we are happy to explain how that works)
• Solid experience in cyber security across technical, assurance, risk or advisory work
• Confidence with clients and the ability to communicate clearly at different levels
• Flexibility to spend extra time on site where defence projects need it
• Openness to occasional on-call requirements where relevant

What to expect

The role is hybrid, generally two to three days a week in the Manchester office, and some defence work may need more time on site. We will talk through your clearance, availability and the specific role and timings on an initial call, so you know exactly what you are applying for.
