Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Cyber Security Analyst apprentice to join our team at our Head Office in Liverpool, UK. This apprenticeship will provide hands-on experience in security while working towards a formal qualification. You will develop the skills to collect, process, and analyse data, supporting data-driven decision-making across the organisation.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential

We’re looking for someone with a passion for technology and cybersecurity. You don’t need prior experience, but the following skills and attributes will help you succeed:

• A strong interest in cybersecurity, analytics, and technology.
• Logical thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Good numerical and analytical skills.
• A proactive and curious mindset, eager to learn and develop.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to spot patterns in data.
• Basic knowledge of networks and security tools (desirable but not essential).
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring security systems and responding to security incidents
• Developing and maintaining incident response plans and playbooks
• Work with external providers to conduct penetration testing exercises
• Configuring and maintaining security tools and devices (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection systems)
• Contributing to the development and implementation of security policies and procedures.
• Conducting security audits to ensure compliance with security standards and regulations
• Collaborating with other IT teams to understand security requirements

What you will learn

Throughout your apprenticeship, you will gain hands-on experience and work towards proficiency in:

• Identifying and assessing security vulnerabilities in systems and networks
• Configuring and maintaining networks, security tools and devices
• Analysing security incidents and formulating responses
• Security policy and procedure development
• Conducting security audits to ensure compliance with security standards and regulation

Required Qualifications

• A-levels (or equivalent) in Maths, Computer Science, Business, or a related field are beneficial.
• Alternatively, a relevant Level 3 qualification or work experience demonstrating analytical ability.
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above) are typically required.
