Job description

Cyber Security Analyst Intro

We have an incredible opportunity for a Cyber Security Analyst to join our IT Security and Governance team on a permanent basis (home based).

Who we are

Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established pension funds.

Our heritage of looking after the pension needs of the rail industry and its employees gives us our name and our unique outlook on how we serve our members. Railpen takes a holistic view, focusing on how we serve members today and how we can positively impact the communities and the world they will retire into.

The role

Within this role you will be responsible for securing and protecting network systems, applications and data. This includes ensuring the appropriate IT Security controls and processes are in place across Railpen’s IT infrastructure as well as monitoring security logs and responding to incidents, triaging requests and escalating incidents in a timely and effective manner.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.

The person

We are looking for someone with experience as a Cyber Security Analyst, who will have a technical understanding of the required security controls to secure complex architectural solutions hosted on premise and in the Cloud. You will have an understanding of security concepts and Infrastructure technologies and how new security solutions will impact delivery. Experience of working with Azure Sentinel and Defender would be a distinct advantage, however this isn’t essential.

The successful candidate will be comfortable collaborating with a variety of stakeholders and be keen to build effective relationships within the team and cross-functionally to help mitigate risks, develop solutions and help to identify innovative methods to improve IT security across Railpen. You will have excellent communication skills to allow you to deliver technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Having the ability to be proactive and manage multiple priorities at one given time is key to this role. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate a passion for IT Security and a willingness to learn and develop within a complex and exciting environment.

Our values of integrity, community and alignment are the guiding principles that influence our behaviour. They help us make decisions and shape our relationships with others. They’re what we stand for. You will actively demonstrate our values, helping to create a safe environment, to place the needs of the community above oneself and, through a culture of ‘fair challenge’, align to the best interests of our members.
