Cyber Operations and Threats Analyst (Contract)
JAB Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Cyber Operations and Threats Analyst on behalf of our Operator client, a leading international energy company with a strong presence in the UK North Sea and global operations across Asia, Africa, the Americas, and Europe. This is a contract role, based in Aberdeen, initially offered through to 31st December 2026.
The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Cyber Operations and Threats Analyst to be located at our client's Aberdeen office. The role involves protecting the organisation's network and data from cyber-attacks by identifying, analysing, and mitigating security threats.
This role requires an in-depth knowledge of cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and current security trends. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Reporting to the Cybersecurity Lead, you will focus mainly on the operational aspect of the client’s Cybersecurity function and collaborate with the Managed Cybersecurity Service Provider (MSSP) to ensure security.
The threat landscape is increasing with global geopolitical instability. The UK government is increasing regulatory pressure on companies to ensure resilience against cyber threats.
The client manages approximately 5,600 IT assets and 1,000 operational technology assets. Their cybersecurity measures aim to reduce cyber risks, protect sensitive information, maintain business continuity, and meet regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities include:
Additional duties include maintaining data confidentiality, fostering organizational understanding, facilitating collaboration, ensuring long-term cost efficiency, and demonstrating compliance.
This role is crucial in preventing single points of failure within the cybersecurity function.
Candidate requirements:
Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field; proven experience in cybersecurity operations and threat analysis. Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or CASP+ are highly desirable. Strong knowledge of network security, protocols, standards, and best practices. Experience with security tools like firewalls, IDS/IPS, and SIEM is valued.
