Job summary

PentenAmio is seeking a Cyber Network Security Engineer in Tewkesbury on a hybrid basis (~3 days on-site). Salary £40,000 - £55,000 DOE, DV clearance required.

You will work with IT Operations and Design teams to implement SbD, conduct vulnerability assessments, manage firewalls and cloud security, and ensure compliance with ISO27001, CIS, Cyber Essentials Plus, and GDPR.

Qualifications

• Experience in security-focused environments (government/cyber security)
• Strong TCP/IP, routing, DNS, DHCP knowledge
• Experience administering enterprise firewalls
• Experience with IDS/IPS, VPN, NAC, WAF, SIEM, and EDR
• Cloud security networking knowledge (Azure/AWS)
• TLS/SSL inspection and PKI understanding
• Strong written and verbal communication

Responsibilities

Typical Activities

Working in collaboration with internal stakeholders across IT Operations and Project & Design teams, the Cyber Network Security Engineer will help keep our IT and information secure and operational, including:

• Help shape company Cyber and Information Security Policies and Procedures, and input towards our Secure by Design (SbD) approach.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, participate in penetration testing activities, and review remediation plans.
• Ensure security controls align with relevant standards such as ISO 27001, CIS, Cyber Essentials Plus, and GDPR.
• Investigate security alerts, support incident response (containment, eradication and recovery), and conduct threat hunting.
• Analyse logs from firewalls, SIEM platforms, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security tools.
• Manage and support firewalls, VPNs, web proxies, and network access control solutions.
• Configure and maintain network segmentation, security zones, and monitor network traffic for suspicious activity.
• Secure hybrid and cloud networking environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and implement zero-trust networking principles.
• Monitor and review user access controls and privileges, escalating anomalies or misuse.
• Keep abreast of the latest technologies, open-source intelligence, and emerging vulnerabilities.

What we're looking for

• Experience of working in an environment where security is a key consideration, e.g. Government or other cyber security related field.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, and network protocols.
• Experience administering enterprise firewalls.
• Experience with IDS/IPS, VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL VPN), Network Access Control (NAC), Web Application Firewalls (WAF), Secure Web Gateways, SIEM solutions, and Endpoint Detection and Response tools.
• Knowledge of cloud security networking within Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
• Understanding of TLS/SSL inspection, PKI, and certificate management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable

• Experience with network packet analysis tools such as Wireshark.
• Familiarity with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
• Experience building and maintaining relationships with customers and regulatory bodies.

• Hold relevant cyber/network security experience or qualifications; and,
• Be a British citizen; and
• Hold or be eligible for UK National Security Vetting (NSV) - DV level clearance.
