Job Description:

Our client is a manufacturer of printed cartons based in the South East. They have an excellent reputation in the industry for providing high-quality products and being reliable, selling into diverse market sectors.

Due to continued business growth, an opportunity has arisen for a Cut & Crease Operator. The successful applicant will ideally have experience working with various Cut & Crease machines and be capable of producing high-quality work.

Main Responsibilities:

• Make ready and operate both B1 and Large Format Cut and Crease Machines using a range of materials including solid board and corrugated. The company currently has a Bobst 106 and 142, and Iberica 144 blanking machines.
• Identify and resolve issues related to job production.
• Record all job production data onto relevant business systems.
• Repair or amend tooling and dies as necessary.
• Resolve machine breakdowns where possible.
• Ensure maintenance schedules are followed.
• Record new dies in the die log for future reference.
• Keep machines clean, safe, and tidy.
• Perform quality checks as per company guidelines.
• Notify supervisor of any consumable stock needs.
• Manage waste disposal, including emptying bins into a compactor.
• Locate, position, and return tooling as required.
• Prepare stripping units for relevant jobs and machines.
• Use the pile-turner to assist with material preparation when necessary.
• Complete administrative tasks using IMS systems.
• Move pallets of work using provided equipment.
• Charge electric pallet trucks at the end of shifts and top up batteries as needed.
• Maintain general housekeeping in the department.
• Perform battery checks on electric trucks.
• Clean the compactor weekly.
• Take on responsibilities of the Cut & Crease Assistant during their absence.
• Assist with training of trainees and assistants.
• Perform any other duties as instructed by management.

Skills and Attributes:

• Ability to work well in a team and independently.
• Prioritize tasks and work under strict deadlines.
• Remain calm under pressure.
• Be confident, enthusiastic, and eager to learn and develop through training.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Experience in the packaging or greeting cards sector is an advantage.
• Organized, methodical, and logical approach to work.
• Willing to do overtime during busy periods.
