Job description

Due to increased global growth, we are seeking a Customs Coordinator to join our Logistics Team at the Heathrow Office of ALPI UK Ltd.

The role involves supporting customs operations, coordinating with various parties to ensure the timely clearance of goods.

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 17:30 (one-hour unpaid lunch)

Salary: £25,000 – £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Customs Manager in executing customs activities, supporting compliance and company goals.
  • Complete all customs import activities accurately and timely, including legal and invoicing transactions.
  • Prepare and submit CDS declarations in accordance with UK HMRC regulations.
  • Ensure operational activities are completed on schedule and report any discrepancies.
  • Maintain and utilize Descartes operational system effectively.
  • Charge and collect Import Duties/VAT correctly, following SOPs.
  • Communicate with sales teams regarding new leads and shipment handovers.
  • Ensure compliance with company SOPs and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Follow up on late payments with credit control.
  • Provide quotations promptly and record them systematically.
  • Implement workflow improvements in collaboration with the line manager.
  • Generate reports by deadlines and oversee goods release approvals.
  • Complete invoicing within 48 hours of activities and handle insurance claims as required.
  • Provide holiday and sickness cover when needed.
Skills, Experience, and Competencies:
  • At least 2 years’ experience in exports/imports and customs compliance.
  • Knowledge of UK and EU customs requirements.
  • Experience in road transport, logistics, or haulage (preferred but not essential).
  • Proficiency with CDS system for imports and exports.
  • Understanding of transit procedures and ETSF (preferred).
  • Experience with HMRC amendments and reclaim processes.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility with working hours, including occasional weekends.
