Position: Customs Compliance Specialist (Fixed Term Contract)

BRIEF OVERVIEW

A position for a Customs Compliance Specialist has become available at DSV, location TBC. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a company committed to providing quality, innovative value, and logistics services.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To support the Customs Compliance Lead and Managers in supporting all 3 divisions (Road, Air & Sea, and Solutions) within DSV in all levels of customs activity. The Customs Compliance Specialist will facilitate compliance of import and export activities, conduct audits, and ensure adherence to all national and international regulations and controls.

KEY TASKS

  • Complete customs compliance audit activity and provide feedback to the divisions.
  • Create and distribute monthly audit reports.
  • Arrange clearance of goods into the UK, issuing full customs clearance instructions, and authorizing payment/suspension of duties/taxes where necessary.
  • Manage transit issues such as holds, cancellations, undischarged transits, and inbound transit problems.
  • Provide customs support across divisions.
  • Log and action HMRC correspondence, including statistical queries.
  • Manage user access for customs software and Government Gateway.
  • Approve requests for using DSV’s Excise Movement Guarantee.
  • Support issuance of security access cards.
  • Ensure import/export permits/licenses are in place for smooth movement of goods.
  • Maintain supporting customs documentation, complete relevant HMRC returns.
  • Assist with HMRC, government, and internal audits.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in trade compliance, customs compliance, freight forwarding, or logistics roles.
  • Knowledge of customs regulations (desirable).
  • Experience with customs entries and warehouse operations (desirable).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and KPIs.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
