Customs Compliance Manager
Customs Compliance Manager – County Wicklow, Ireland – €70,000 DOE

The Job:
Are you an experienced customs professional looking for an exciting new challenge with a global organisation? Our client is seeking a Customs Compliance Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of customs compliance across the UK and EU. This is a unique opportunity to build and develop a strategic customs compliance function, driving efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring full regulatory alignment.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing import and export operations, ensuring full compliance with UK and EU customs regulations. You will work closely with third-party customs brokers, internal teams, and regulatory bodies to ensure accurate and timely customs declarations and audits. This position offers the chance to shape the customs compliance strategy, collaborate with key stakeholders, mitigate risks, and optimise duties, making a real impact within the organisation.

The Candidate:

  1. Minimum of 5 years in customs compliance, trade compliance, or international trade, with strong expertise in UK and EU customs procedures, including import/export declarations, duty management, and classification.
  2. Proficiency in MSS/CDS reports, customs software, or ERP systems for import/export operations, along with strong analytical skills to review data, identify trends, and assess risk areas.
  3. Ability to engage and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including customs authorities in the UK and EU, with experience in tariff classification and duty management.
  4. Knowledge of preferential trade agreements (FTAs), customs duty reliefs, and experience with AEO certification and customs simplifications.
  5. Diploma or certification in Customs Compliance, International Trade, or a related field (e.g., UK Customs Academy, Institute of Export & International Trade), along with familiarity with REACH regulations, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for hazardous materials, and experience collaborating with finance teams on customs duty reconciliation and tax considerations.
