Job description

Job Title: Customs Clerk

Location: Lichfield

Overview:

The Customs Clerk for this Lichfield-based company will work closely with the operations team to ensure all relevant customs documents are generated and I.T systems (both internal and external) are updated promptly.

Responsibilities:
  1. Create Customs declarations with correct codes and schemes.
  2. Prepare transit documents and ensure Customs compliance.
  3. Handle all paperwork for Import and Export.
  4. Liaise with customers and suppliers to obtain necessary paperwork.
  5. Arrange transport for international and domestic shipments from start to finish.
  6. Provide quotes for enquiries, advising on transit and Customs formalities.
  7. Manage Border Force enquiries.
  8. Coordinate daily schedules for drivers and subcontractors.
  9. Check charges in preparation for invoicing.
  10. Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by management.
  11. Ensure conduct complies with UK legislation and maintain a professional attitude, including handling confidential information.
Requirements:
  1. Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  2. Good understanding of Customs procedures.
  3. Experience with Destin8 and CNS systems (preferred).
  4. Experience generating C88 for import customs clearance.
  5. Familiarity with CSPs such as MCP, Pentant, CCS.
  6. Understanding of import VAT, duties, and quotas.
  7. Experience with customs invoicing and query resolution.
Package:
  • Up to £28,000 depending on experience

Monday to Friday – Full time
