Customs and Logistics Compliance Manager - 6 Months Fixed Term

Join to apply for the Customs and Logistics Compliance Manager - 6 Months Fixed Term role at British Airways.

The role: To deliver outstanding logistics solutions that enable the Maintenance operation. You will ensure that our worldwide shipping agents and BA's logistics movements deliver key materials on schedule, in accordance with all rules and regulations, including BA / DfT&I / HMRC regulations. You are responsible for seamless integration of BA, its 3rd party MROs, and service providers to ensure timely delivery of materials meeting operational, planned, and ad hoc requirements.

What You’ll Do:

  1. Ensure logistics service providers (including internal) deliver timely movement of engineering materials meeting BA’s operational, quality, and financial requirements.
  2. Handle timely and compliant resolution of issues related to customs clearance, export controls, trade sanctions, and dangerous goods certification.
  3. Work within procedures owned by the customs and logistics compliance managers and vary them when necessary.
  4. Provide feedback on procedures and master data for continuous improvement.
  5. Update stakeholders on the status and ETA of material movements, aiming to improve timeliness and accuracy using IT tools.
  6. Establish and leverage relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders.
  7. Collaborate with the logistics contracts manager to ensure a holistic approach to logistics provider management.
  8. Manage within the logistics budget, identifying opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining or improving service levels.

What You’ll Bring to British Airways:

  • Extensive experience in international logistics operations, with aviation industry experience desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience applying Continuous Improvement processes.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Supply chain or operational management experience.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of documentation required for international goods crossing borders compliantly.
  • Ability to resolve issues with documentation rapidly.
  • Effective supplier management skills.
  • Ability to make informed trade-offs between transport modes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Proven capability to work in time-critical environments.
  • Experience importing into European countries (desirable).
