Job summary

The Co-op in Yarm is seeking a Customer Team Leader to help run a busy store. You’ll lead a small team on shifts, including closing and weekend work, and work hands-on on the shop floor and tills.

You’ll focus on delivering great service, merchandising, stock accuracy and community engagement, while enjoying Co-op benefits such as staff discount, pension contributions, flexible pay, and holiday entitlements.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a small team in a retail environment.
• Willingness to work a mix of opening, middle, and closing shifts.
• Able to work at least some weekend days.

Responsibilities

• Own the day-to-day running of the store by leading the team on your shift.
• Motivate, coach, and support your team to deliver great service and efficient operations.
• Work hands-on on the shop floor and tills, supporting daily operations and leading a team of Customer Team Members.
• Support store performance through merchandising, stock accuracy, and HR processes.
• Champion Co-op through community engagement and membership growth.

Location: Davenport Road , Yarm, TS15 9TN

Pay: £14.48 per hour

Contract: 16 hours per week + regular overtime, permanent contract, part time

Working pattern: A mix of opening shifts, middle shifts, and closing shifts. At least 2 shifts will be closing and at least 1 will be at the weekend. We're happy to discuss your availability further at interview.

As a Customer Team Leader, you'll lead a small team in a fast-paced Co-op store, helping to deliver essential services to your community. Depending on your store this could involve you working in our post office or bakery or supporting online services and our home delivery drivers. Whatever the day brings, you'll play a key role in making life easier for our customers.
