Job description

What you'll do

The role of a Customer Service Representative is to provide our customers with an outstanding service we can all be proud of, by taking ownership of customers’ transactional or service requests and answering specific product queries. Our Customer Service Representatives also educate our customers around HSBC self-service devices and actively speak to them around HSBC’s digital platforms, giving them the choice of how they wish to bank with us.

We are looking for people who are passionate about delivering an outstanding customer experience, people who are ambitious and have a helpful personality. Previous Customer Service experience is helpful, but not essential; what we really want is someone who can hold a conversation and has a genuine passion for going above and beyond for customers – everything else we can teach you!

At HSBC, we are passionate about coaching and developing our people. You will have access to our learning platform and the opportunity to develop your career further.

Within this role, you will:

  1. Provide exceptional face-to-face customer service in a timely manner whilst working in a fast-paced, busy branch environment and adhering to policies and procedures.
  2. Process a wide range of transactions with a high degree of accuracy.
  3. Have excellent attention to detail.
  4. Support customers in understanding HSBC self-service devices and digital banking platforms.
  5. Collaborate with the branch team to improve workflows and processes for better customer experience.

What do I need to be successful?

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills to engage effectively, build strong connections, and show empathy to customers.
  • Take ownership of customer inquiries through to resolution, delivering a personalized, friendly, and efficient service.
  • Be resilient in a changing environment.

When & Where you'll work

Our full-time roles are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00, and Saturday 09:00-13:30. Not all branches are open on Saturdays. This position may require support at other local branches, with expenses reimbursed as per HSBC policy.

Your Training

You will receive full in-branch training over 8 days split across 2 weeks to familiarize you with your role, systems, products, and services. Attendance is mandatory for the entire training period.

What You’ll Get!

Starting salary of £24,000 for 35 hours per week, plus an annual discretionary bonus. Benefits include:

  • Over six weeks’ holiday, including bank and public holidays, with options to buy more.
  • Perks at Work discounts on 30,000+ offers.
  • Market-leading pension contributions.
  • BUPA Healthcare.
  • Life Assurance worth four times your salary.
  • Access to flexible benefits for health, retail, and vehicle services.
  • Sharesave scheme for discounted share purchases.
