Job Description

What you'll do

The role of a Customer Service Consultant is to provide outstanding service, educating customers to use our digital platforms and offering flexible banking options. You will actively promote fraud awareness, support vulnerable customers, and ensure financial inclusion for all. We value passionate, helpful individuals who enjoy delivering excellent customer experiences. Previous experience is helpful but not essential; we focus on your ability to communicate and care for customers.

At HSBC, we support your growth through coaching and development opportunities.

Within this role, you will:

  • Be the first point of contact in our Branch Customer Service Team, taking ownership of customer needs and delivering exceptional service.
  • Educate customers about HSBC digital services and fraud prevention.
  • Identify vulnerable customers and determine how best to support them.
  • Assist customers with complex banking needs, ensuring they feel supported and informed.

What you need to be successful

  • Excellent communication skills to engage effectively, build rapport, and show empathy.
  • Ownership of customer inquiries from start to resolution, providing personalized and friendly service.
  • Resilience in a dynamic environment.

Work Schedule

This full-time role involves 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00, and Saturday 09:00-13:30 (not all branches open on Saturdays). If on a student visa, please note working 35 hours may not be permitted. You may be asked to support other local branches, with expenses reimbursed.

Training

You will undergo a 9-day in-branch training over 3 weeks to familiarize you with your role, systems, and HSBC products. Attendance at the entire training is required, and holidays during this period are not permitted.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary of £26,000 for 35 hours/week, plus a discretionary annual bonus. Benefits include:

  • Over six weeks’ holiday, including bank/public holidays, with options to buy more.
  • Perks at Work discounts on 30,000+ offers.
  • Life Assurance (4x salary).
  • Flexible benefits platform for health, retail, and travel perks.
  • Sharesave savings scheme.

We are committed to diversity and inclusion, welcoming candidates of all backgrounds and offering accommodations during recruitment for those with disabilities or neurodivergence.
