We’re looking for a Customer Service Assistant who can make a real difference in their local community.

Southern Co-op is recruiting for a Customer Service Assistant to help deliver the excellent service we’re known for. Our retail stores are more than just places to pick up groceries — they are the heart of the town or village, a place to meet friends, or a vital service for vulnerable people. Our Customer Service Assistants don’t just help improve store performance and efficiency; they are the friendly, recognizable face within the local community.

What we’re looking for

We offer an exciting, varied part-time role within our retail store. Experience in a similar role is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided. You should be a great communicator, not afraid to start conversations, with excellent communication skills and a positive ‘can do’ attitude. You’ll have a keen enthusiasm for delivering excellent customer service and be willing to carry out day-to-day tasks such as:

  • Helping customers with queries and requests
  • Merchandising stock to ensure great availability
  • Assisting with stock control and replenishment
  • Working at the checkout to serve customers
  • Keeping the store clean, tidy, and safe
  • Maintaining high standards of customer service at all times

Beyond customer interactions, you’ll proactively engage in community activities—volunteering, offering help, or supporting good causes—reflecting our commitment to the community.
