Job description

Customer Service Advisor – Contact Centre
Location: Civic Offices (with hybrid working available once fully trained)
Contract: 6 months minimum
Umbrella Rate: £19.23 per hour
PAYE Rate: £16.57 per hour
Interviews: Face-to-face at the Civic Offices
Start Date: ASAP
We’re currently recruiting for a Customer Service Advisor to join a busy Customer Experience Contact Centre on a temporary 6-month placement. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with contact centre or local authority experience to make a real impact in a fast-paced public-facing service.
Role Overview: As part of a professional, high-performing team, you’ll handle a variety of resident enquiries across services such as Waste, Homelessness, and Highways. The role is initially office-based during training, with the potential to work on a hybrid basis once you're up to speed.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Responding to resident enquiries by phone and email in a professional and timely manner
  • Using contact centre systems to log and manage queries
  • Supporting wider business administration tasks as required
  • Managing complex cases with empathy and efficiency
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Previous contact centre or customer service experience
  • Confident in using contact centre technology and digital tools
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills
  • Comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced environment
Desirable:
  • Experience in a local authority setting
  • Knowledge of services delivered by local government
  • Familiarity with the local area would be beneficial
