Job description

Hybrid – Manchester HQ (1-2 days per week in the office)

We’re looking for a Customer & Product Marketing Specialist to join our world-class Marketing team.

What we do

Vypr is a Manchester HQ’d Private Equity/Venture Capital-backed SaaS business. Our market-leading product intelligence platform provides reliable consumer data to help manufacturers and retailers understand what their customers want to see on shelves. This helps reduce the time and cost spent developing new products, which makes for better products, faster.

We’re a scale-up business with huge growth ambitions. We’ve proved product-market fit with our existing offering and now we’re ready to scale at pace. We’re using scalable new technology to reimagine our product intelligence platform with limitless future potential, from personalisation to AI-enhanced insight.

Provide a short intro to your team (2-3 sentences max – needs to be consistent with overall Vypr brand)

Things that you will do

This is a strategic seat, and it’s been designed that way deliberately.

The role owns our relationship with our existing customer base hand-in-hand with our Customer team — where the majority of our revenue comes from. You’ll build and run the annual customer calendar, execute the campaigns behind it, and drive structured expansion into our largest strategic accounts, working alongside the Customer Success, Account Management and Solutions teams within our Customer function on the value-realisation material that keeps our worth visible across the renewal cycle.

You’ll also build the advocacy programme that supplies the whole commercial function with customer proof — references, case studies and an advisory board — and, as the function matures, install the onboarding foundations that get new customers to value faster.

It’s a role about judgement as much as delivery: what our customers hear, when they hear it, and what keeps them with us.

The smaller part of the role makes you marketing’s representative to the product team — holding product and feature positioning, keeping our competitive picture current, and feeding that material to the teams who publish it. Our product marketing process already uses AI for first-draft production, so this isn’t about drafting from scratch. It’s about making sure what we say about the product is accurate, sharp and consistent everywhere it appears.

It’s a broad dual-seat in a function being rebuilt — customer-facing, commercially accountable, and close to both the product team and the front line.

What you will be responsible for
Customer marketing (approximately 80%)
  • Customer calendar: Build and run a 12-month, monthly-cadence customer marketing calendar: newsletter, product digest, webinars, customer events, NPS and satisfaction programmes, and persona-specific lifecycle flows.
  • Campaign execution: Execute customer campaigns end to end against the shared calendar, drawing content supply from the Content & Campaigns Manager’s team.
  • Expansion: Run structured account-based land-and-expand programmes on our top strategic accounts, in partnership with Customer Success and Account Management.
  • Value realisation: Work alongside the Customer Success, Account Management and Solutions teams on the ROI tooling, success-pattern playbooks and “how the best customers use Vypr” material that keeps value visible across the renewal cycle and defends against churn.
  • Advocacy: Build and run the advocacy flywheel — references, case studies, review-site programmes and an advisory board — creating the customer proof the whole commercial function depends on.
  • Onboarding: In time, design and run a structured onboarding programme that gets new customers to first value fast, owned jointly with Customer Success — you own the content and the flow, they own the relationship. This is a later-phase initiative rather than a day-one priority.
Product marketing (approximately 20%)
  • Product and feature positioning: Own and keep current the positioning for our product and its features — what it does, who it’s for, why it matters — applying the strategic positioning the CMO sets.
  • FAB material: Maintain the features, advantages and benefits documentation as the reusable source material every other team draws from.
  • Competitive intelligence: Keep our competitive picture current — who we’re up against, where we win, how we’re differentiated — and keep positioning sharp against it. Create battlecards and competitive campaigns.
  • Represent marketing in the product marketing process: Attend the cycle kickoff and review, set the release tier, and own the selling points and differentiators section of the feature brief.
  • Feed the function: Supply positioning, FAB material and competitive intelligence to content, campaigns, PR, social, website and demand generation — so product messaging shows up consistently across every channel rather than only at launch.
  • Keep the website narrative sharp: The Digital Marketing Executive owns the website; you partner with them on the accuracy and sharpness of the product messaging across it, including how clearly we differentiate from competitors. All product marketing and messaging work is aligned between the two of you.
How you’ll work with the team

You’ll work hand in glove with Customer Success and Account Management on retention, expansion and, in time, onboarding. They own the relationship; you own the programme and the content.

You’ll partner with the product team as marketing’s voice in their process, translating what’s being built into positioning and proof the commercial function can use. You’ll brief and co-deliver with the Content & Campaigns Manager’s team, who publish your material across owned and earned channels, and report back to them on how it performed so the next round lands better. You’ll supply the Demand Generation Specialists with the product and competitive material that powers acquisition campaigns, while you lead expansion into existing strategic accounts.

You’ll report to the CMO, who owns strategic brand and product marketing — you turn it into what the market and our customers actually see.

What you’ll bring
  • B2B SaaS customer, lifecycle or retention marketing experience, with real ownership of a retention or expansion number.
  • FMCG/CPG or ResTech (market research, insights or similar) experience is highly desireable
  • Account-based marketing and advocacy / reference-programme experience.
  • Product marketing exposure — you don’t need to have been a full-time PMM, but you should be able to hold positioning, write a sharp differentiator and keep a competitive picture current.
  • The judgement to prioritise: this is a broad seat, and knowing what not to do matters as much as delivery.
  • Comfort orchestrating across Customer Success, Account Management, Product and Sales.
  • Programme and calendar discipline, and fluency in retention metrics such as NRR, gross retention and NPS.
  • Confident working with marketing and customer platforms — CRM, customer communications tooling and Monday.com for delivery. Experience with Planhat, or a similar customer platform, is a plus.
  • Comfort working alongside AI-assisted content production, focusing your time on quality, positioning and distribution rather than drafting.
  • A B2B SaaS and insights background is a must.
How success is measured

Net revenue retention (headline, reported jointly with Customer Success); expansion bookings; gross retention; customer NPS; advocacy participation rate; and, as the programme matures, onboarding-to-first-value time.

On the product side: adoption of newly released capability, currency and usage of positioning and competitive material across the commercial function, and consistency of product messaging across our channels.

  • Customer calendar & lifecycle marketing — building and running the annual customer programme.
  • Campaign execution — running customer campaigns end to end.
  • Strategic-account ABM — structured land-and-expand on named accounts.
  • Value realisation — proving and re-proving worth across the renewal cycle.
  • Advocacy programme building — references, case studies and an advisory board.
  • Product & feature positioning — holding the story as the product evolves.
  • Competitive intelligence — keeping the picture current and the positioning sharp.
  • Message supply & consistency — feeding other channels so product messaging lands everywhere.
  • Cross-functional orchestration — working across Customer Success, Account Management and Product.
  • Data & cohort analysis — fluency in NRR, retention and NPS.
  • Commercial empathy — understanding the renewal and expansion conversation.
