Job Description

Do you have a background in customer service? We are looking to recruit a Customer Operations Agent in our Freight booking office in Hull on an 18-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

With a history of over 180 years, P&O Ferries has a rich heritage in ferry services. Our ships operate across the English Channel, North Sea, and Irish Sea, employing nearly 2000 people.

This role is based in Hull on an 18-month fixed-term contract.

In this role, you will be responsible for processing unaccompanied and driver-accompanied eastbound and westbound bookings, along with associated administrative duties for all North Sea and Thames route services. You will also contribute to the daily customer service functions within the department. Please note that this role involves shift work.

Location: Hull

Key responsibilities:

  • Handling customer inquiries related to freight being loaded or unloaded from P&O vessels operating on the North Sea and Thames services.
  • Ensuring accuracy when inputting customer freight bookings into all systems.
  • Accepting written bookings from both account and non-account customers, either on the day of sailing or in advance, using company reservation systems.
  • Contacting customers via phone or email to obtain bookings for units received at the port without a prior reservation.
  • Demonstrating good interpersonal skills.
  • Providing strong customer service and communicating effectively.
  • Being IT literate.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
