Job description
Overview

As one of our Technician Specialists, you'll bring our distinctive John Lewis service to customers' doors and install products in their homes (such as furniture, kitchen appliances, sound systems and TV sets) as part of a 2-person delivery crew driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle. You will share specialised knowledge to coach and develop other delivery drivers on home installations and customer service, acting as a role model for the great service John Lewis is known for.

Note: This role includes an Evening Premium (£3.00 per hour) for time worked between 18:00 and 22:00 and a Night Premium (£4.00 per hour) for time worked between 22:00 and 06:00. This also applies to existing Partners enrolled onto Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements. To work in this role you must be 18 years or older.

Key Responsibilities
  • Being an ambassador for the John Lewis brand with great customer service as the top priority.
  • Coach, develop and assess delivery driver colleagues and provide knowledge to perform at their best and represent the brand.
  • Assist with loading the lorry with the day’s deliveries, working alongside the warehouse team.
  • Demonstrate respect and courtesy for the customer’s home and manage unexpected situations to find the best solutions for customers.
  • Install products efficiently and demonstrate how they work after installation.
  • Keep up to date with new products and technologies to perform at your best.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Note: The role involves heavy lifting; you will deliver large items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds and mattresses.
Essential skills/experience
  • Previous installation experience; we will top up knowledge with our installer accreditation.
  • Manual C1 UK driving licence (maximum of 6 points).
  • DCPC or Driver Qualification Card by day one, and Tachograph Card.
  • Previous experience driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role and strong verbal communication skills both over the phone and in person.
  • Good understanding of technology.
Desirable skills/experience
  • Experience in-home delivery and installation of electrical and furniture products.
  • Installation and disconnection of white goods.
  • Experience with electrical installations (including integrated appliances) and TV wall mounts.
  • Ability to replace domestic light fittings, accessories and cooking appliances.
  • Flat pack assembly experience.

Salary: Up to £38,495 (Annual) depending on experience
