About the role

As one of our Installation Specialists based in one of our Customer Delivery Hubs, you'll have the opportunity to deliver our John Lewis service directly to customers' homes, installing products such as furniture, kitchen appliances, sound systems, and TV sets as part of a two-person delivery team. We are currently inviting applications for Driver Installer roles at our Killingworth Customer Delivery Hub.

Location: Killingworth CDH (Newcastle upon Tyne)

Salary: Starting at £29,000 annually for both Installer Trainee and Installer roles

Applicants must be over 18 due to role requirements.

Driver Installer Trainee Responsibilities:

• Complete a 3-month training program to qualify as a John Lewis Customer Delivery Installer.
• Provide excellent customer service, representing the John Lewis brand.
• Assist in loading deliveries and working with the warehouse team.
• Respect customer homes and handle unforeseen situations professionally.
• Install products efficiently and demonstrate their use to customers.
• Stay updated on new products and technologies.
• Maintain a safe working environment.

This role involves heavy lifting, including large items like sofas, white goods, and furniture.

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Manual C1 UK driving license (max 6 points)
• DCPC and Tachograph Card
• Experience driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle
• Customer-facing experience
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Good understanding of technology

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• Experience with home delivery and installation of electrical and furniture products

Driver Installer Responsibilities:

Starting at the hub, your day includes:

• Representing the John Lewis brand with excellent customer service
• Loading deliveries with warehouse support
• Respecting customer homes and managing unexpected situations
• Installing products efficiently and demonstrating their operation
• Keeping up-to-date with product knowledge
• Ensuring safety at all times

Heavy lifting is required, including large items like sofas and mattresses.
