About the role
As one of our Installation Specialists based in one of our Customer Delivery Hubs, you'll have the opportunity to deliver our John Lewis service directly to customers' homes, installing products such as furniture, kitchen appliances, sound systems, and TV sets as part of a two-person delivery team. At a glance:

Roles Available: Customer Delivery Hub Driver - Driver Trainee, Installer & Technician

Position: Permanent

Location: Cranbrook Way CDH (Solihull)

Salary: Starting rates are approximately £26,700 for Driver Trainee, £29,000 for Installer, and £32,000 for Technician (annual)

Applicants must be over 18 due to role requirements.

Driver Trainee Responsibilities:
  • Complete a 12-month training program to become a qualified Customer Delivery Installer.
  • Provide excellent customer service and represent the John Lewis brand.
  • Assist with loading deliveries and collaborate with warehouse staff.
  • Respect customer homes and handle unexpected situations professionally.
  • Install products efficiently and demonstrate their features.
  • Stay updated on new products and technologies.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.

Heavy lifting involved: delivering large items like sofas, appliances, furniture, beds, and mattresses.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • UK B-Category manual driving license with no more than 6 points.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and face-to-face.
  • Interest in technology and installation.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in installation and customer delivery driving.
Driver Installer Responsibilities:

Start at the delivery hub, then proceed on route, including:

  • Customer service excellence.
  • Loading deliveries with warehouse support.
  • Respectful interaction with customers and problem-solving.
  • Efficient installation and product demonstration.
  • Staying informed about new products and tech.
  • Ensuring safety.

Heavy lifting involved.

Skills/Experience:

  • Manual C1 UK driving license (max 6 points).
  • DCPC and Tachograph Card.
  • Experience driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle.
  • Customer-facing experience.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Understanding of technology.

Desirable skills include experience with white goods, TV installation, and flat pack assembly.

Driver Technician Responsibilities:

Start at the hub and then on route, including:

  • Customer service excellence.
  • Mentoring colleagues.
  • Loading deliveries.
  • Respectful customer interactions and problem-solving.
  • Installing various products, including wall-mount TVs and appliances.
  • Staying updated on new products and tech.
  • Maintaining safety.

Heavy lifting involved.

Skills/Experience:

  • Manual C1 UK driving license (max 6 points).
  • DCPC and Tachograph Card.
  • Experience driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle.
  • Customer-facing experience.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Understanding of technology.

Desirable skills include experience with electrical and furniture product installation, including white goods and wall-mount TVs.
