About the role

As a Driver Trainee Installer, you will be supported through our trainee programme to become a fully qualified John Lewis Customer Delivery Installer with a C1 driving licence. Based in one of our Customer Delivery Hubs, you'll have the opportunity to bring our distinctive John Lewis service directly to customers' doors, installing products such as furniture, kitchen appliances, sound systems, and TV sets as part of a two-person delivery crew.   • Salary: Starting rates for a Customer Delivery Hub, Driver Trainee will be £28,646 (Annual), Installer £32,149 (Annual), & Technician £34,353 (Annual).

Please note: All applicants must be over 18 due to the nature of the roles.

Driver Trainee's key Responsibilities:
  1. Complete the Customer Delivery Driver Trainee programme to qualify as a John Lewis Customer Delivery Installer.
  2. Provide excellent customer service, representing the John Lewis brand.
  3. Assist in loading your vehicle with daily deliveries, collaborating with the warehouse team.
  4. Respect customer homes and handle unexpected situations professionally.
  5. Install products efficiently and demonstrate their operation to customers.
  6. Stay updated on new products and technologies.
  7. Maintain a safe working environment.

Note: This role involves heavy lifting, including large items like sofas, white goods, and furniture.

Essential skills/experience for CDH Driver Trainee:
  • UK B-Category manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in technology and installation.
Desirable skills/experience:
  • Previous installation and customer delivery experience.
Driver Installer's key Responsibilities:

Start at the delivery hub, then proceed on route to:

  1. Represent the John Lewis brand with great customer service.
  2. Load your vehicle with deliveries alongside the warehouse team.
  3. Respect customer homes and resolve unexpected issues.
  4. Install products efficiently, demonstrating their operation.
  5. Keep up-to-date with new products and technologies.
  6. Maintain safety standards.

Note: Heavy lifting involved, including large items such as sofas and white goods.

Essential skills/experience for CDH Driver Installer:
  • Manual C1 UK driving licence (max 6 points).
  • DCPC and Tachograph Card.
  • Experience driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Good understanding of technology.
Desirable skills/experience for Installer role:
  • Installation and disconnection of white goods.
  • TV installation.
  • Assembly of flat packs.
Driver Technician's key Responsibilities:
  1. Start at the delivery hub, then proceed on route.
  2. Coach and assess colleagues.
  3. Load deliveries with warehouse support.
  4. Respect customer homes and resolve issues.
  5. Install various products, demonstrating their operation.
  6. Stay updated on new products and technologies.
  7. Maintain safety standards.

Note: Heavy lifting involved, including large items like sofas and white goods.

Essential skills/experience for CDH Driver Technician:
  • Manual C1 UK driving licence (max 6 points).
  • DCPC and Tachograph Card.
  • Experience driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle.

Desirable skills/experience for Technician role:
  • Experience in home delivery and installation.
