Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £13.35 an hour; this increases to £14.56 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.

It’s our policy to offer new colleagues joining us a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but if you’d like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12) we have opportunities for this too and would still love to hear from you.

The table shows the periods of time in the week we’d like you to be available to work - the availability windows. We will schedule your contracted hours within these times, and you’ll have 3 weeks’ notice of exactly when your shifts will be. We are happy to support flexibility for our colleagues, therefore if the times you are available to work match closely but not exactly to the times we are advertising, we’d still love to hear from you. As the face of Tesco on the road, you will deliver from Lands’ End to John O’Groats, meeting and assisting customers daily. This role involves more than driving; it’s about providing excellent service and helping others.

This is a hands-on, physical role with variety. No two shifts are the same, and you will have the support of managers and colleagues.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the van and trays are clean, tidy, and organized.
  • Leave the delivery area clean and free of rubbish, picking up litter as needed.
  • Wash trays as part of the tray wash process.
  • Load the van, check for roadworthiness.
  • Communicate with customers about order changes, substitutions, and refunds.
  • Handle products with care.
  • Explain substitution charges to customers.
  • Deliver within the scheduled time slots.
  • Call customers if arriving early or running late.
Requirements
  • Build positive relationships with colleagues.
  • Be warm and welcoming to customers and colleagues.
  • Respond quickly to customer needs and embrace change.
  • Be energetic and driven to exceed expectations.
  • Share ideas to improve the store.
  • Hold a valid UK/EU/EEA Driving Licence (Full or Automatic) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
