Pay and Hours

Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £13.35 an hour; this increases to £14.56 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.

It’s our policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week, but we also offer options for those seeking fewer hours (minimum 12). We will schedule your hours within the availability windows provided, with 3 weeks’ notice of your shifts. We are flexible and open to close matching of your available times.

Customer Focus

As the face of Tesco on the road, our Customer Delivery Drivers meet and talk to customers in their homes daily. This role involves delivering more than just driving: it’s about helping others and providing excellent service with a smile. No two shifts are the same, and support is always available from managers and colleagues back at the base.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the van and trays are clean and organized.
• Keep the delivery area tidy and pick up litter.
• Wash trays as part of the process.
• Load the van and check for roadworthiness.
• Communicate with customers about order changes and substitutions, offering refunds if needed.
• Handle products carefully and deliver within the scheduled time slot.
• Call customers before early arrivals or if running late.

Requirements

• Build good relationships with colleagues to foster team spirit.
• Be warm and welcoming to customers and colleagues.
• Respond quickly to customer needs and embrace change.
• Be energetic and driven, balancing work and personal life.
• Share ideas for store improvement.
• Hold a valid UK/EU/EEA Driving license (Full or Automatic) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
