Pay and Hours

Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £13.35 an hour; this increases to £14.56 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.

It is our policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but if you prefer fewer hours (minimum 12), we have opportunities for this too. We would love to hear from you.

We schedule your contracted hours within the availability windows, with 3 weeks’ notice of your shifts. We are flexible if your availability closely matches but is not exactly within the advertised times.

Role Overview

As a Tesco Customer Delivery Driver, you will be the face of Tesco on the road, delivering from Lands’ End to John O’Groats. This role involves more than driving: it’s about helping customers and providing excellent service with a smile.

This is a hands-on, physical role with variety; no two shifts are the same. You will deliver to customers’ homes, with support from managers and colleagues back at the store.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the van and trays are clean and organized.
• Keep the delivery area tidy and pick up litter.
• Wash trays as required.
• Load the van and check its roadworthiness.
• Communicate with customers about order changes, substitutions, and refunds.
• Handle products carefully and deliver within the scheduled time.
• Call customers before early arrivals and notify the store if running late.

Requirements

• Build positive relationships with colleagues and customers.
• Be welcoming and responsive to customer needs.
• Adapt quickly to changing customer demands.
• Be energetic and motivated to exceed expectations.
• Hold a valid UK/EU/EEA driving license (full or automatic) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
