About the role

Availability Window

Days and hours:

  • Sun: 13:00 - 23:00
  • Fri: 13:00 - 23:00
  • Sat: 13:00 - 23:00

Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £13.35 an hour; this increases to £14.56 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.

We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours weekly; options for fewer hours (minimum 12) are also available. We schedule your hours within the availability windows provided, with 3 weeks' notice of shifts. We are flexible if your available times are close to but not exactly matching our advertised times. Customers are at the heart of everything we do. As the face of Tesco on the road, you will deliver from Lands' End to John O'Groats, meeting customers in their homes daily. This role involves more than driving; it’s about helping others and delivering excellent service with a smile.

The role is hands-on, physical, and varied. No two shifts are the same, and while you’ll be delivering to customers most of the day, support is available from managers and colleagues back at the depot.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the van and trays are clean and organized.
  • Keep the backyard tidy and pick up litter.
  • Wash trays as required.
  • Load the van and check its roadworthiness.
  • Communicate with customers about order changes and substitutions, offering refunds if needed.
  • Handle products carefully.
  • Explain substitution charges to customers.
  • Deliver within the scheduled time slots, calling customers or stores as necessary.
Requirements
  • Build positive relationships with colleagues.
  • Be warm and welcoming to customers and colleagues.
  • Respond quickly to customer needs and embrace change.
  • Be energetic, driven, and able to balance work and life.
  • Share ideas for store improvements.
  • Hold a valid UK/EU/EEA driving license (full or automatic) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
