Job description

Customer Delivery Driver - Tesco

Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £13.35 an hour; this increases to £14.56 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location. We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours weekly, with options for fewer hours (minimum 12) if preferred. We welcome applicants seeking flexibility, stability, or a career change.

As the face of Tesco on the road, you'll deliver from Lands' End to John O'Groats, meeting customers in their homes daily. This role involves more than driving: it's about helping others, delivering excellent service with a smile, and engaging in a varied, hands-on, physical job. No two shifts are the same, and you'll have support from managers and colleagues back at the depot.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Keeping the van and trays clean and organized.
  • Maintaining the delivery area and picking up litter.
  • Washing trays as part of the process.
  • Loading the van and checking its roadworthiness.
  • Discussing order changes with customers, including substitutions and refunds.
  • Handling products carefully and delivering as per the scheduled time slot.
  • Communicating proactively with customers and stores about delays or changes.
  • Building positive relationships with colleagues and customers.
  • Providing friendly, helpful interactions and expressing gratitude.
  • Adapting quickly to customer needs and embracing change.
  • Sharing ideas for store improvement with managers.

Essential qualifications:

  • Valid UK/EU/EEA full or automatic driving license for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
