Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £13.35 an hour; this increases to £14.56 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.

It’s our policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but we also offer opportunities for fewer hours (minimum 12). We will schedule your hours within your availability, with 3 weeks’ notice of shifts. As the face of Tesco on the road, delivering from Lands’ End to John O’Groats, our Delivery Drivers get to meet and talk to customers in their homes daily. This role is about more than driving: it's about helping others and delivering excellent service with a smile.

The role is hands-on, physical, and varied. No two shifts are the same. You’ll be delivering to customers, supported by managers and colleagues back at base.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the van and trays are clean and organized
  • Maintaining a tidy back yard and picking up litter
  • Washing trays as part of the process
  • Loading the van and checking its roadworthiness
  • Communicating with customers about order changes and substitutions, offering refunds if needed
  • Handling products carefully and delivering within the agreed time slot
  • Calling customers before early arrivals and informing the store if running late

Requirements include:
  • Building good relationships with colleagues
  • Being warm and welcoming to customers and colleagues
  • Responding quickly to customer needs and embracing change
  • Being energetic and driven
  • Sharing ideas for store improvements
  • Valid UK/EU/EEA Driving license (Full or Automatic) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points
