Job description

Are you looking for a career that makes a difference? Look no further than Severn Trent Water! Our award-winning, innovative company is home to over 8,500 dedicated team members who are passionate about making a positive impact on the world. We offer a diverse range of roles and development opportunities, so there’s something for everyone here. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to take your career to the next level, we have the resources and support you need to succeed.

Here in Developer Services, we’re committed to providing outstanding service to our customers. That’s why we’re proud to be recognised as a leading service provider in our field. But we’re not content to rest on our laurels. Our ambition is to be market-leading in everything we do, by being easy to deal with, offering value for money, and creating an awesome place to work.

Do you want to be part of a market leading team responsible for delivering a critical DMeX measure? Great opportunity to join a team of technicians and field inspectors who strive to deliver 10/10 customer experience and are well on the way to achieving this.

We’re looking for a Customer Connections Design Technician to join our Developer Services team on a 12-month basis, based in our Coventry headquarters.

You’ll support the Waste Connection Team by providing excellent customer service to customers who want to connect to our Waste network, and you’ll evaluate and manage sewer connection applications through to completion.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Every customer is different so your day to day will vary in this role. At the heart of each day is providing outstanding customer service. You’ll find solutions to customer queries first time by advising our customers.

You’ll assess the design of new sewer connections and new sewers being built for adoption and review post-connection information required for Severn Trent to formally sign off the sewer connection and adopt the new sewer length.

Working alongside Field Inspectors, you’ll work together to confirm which connections are approved and find answers to problems.

You’ll need to adhere to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and get things right first time. Understanding our customer service and experience scores from our developer customers like one off house builders is crucial.

Support with billing queries and questions from solicitors will also be required.

You’ll be based at our Coventry headquarters for this secondment. Typical working hours are Monday-Friday between 8am – 5pm and we are open to flexible / part time hours. There may be some travel to meet our Field Inspectors so a willingness to travel would be appreciated.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

We’re looking for candidates who are experienced in customer service who have the confidence to pick up the phone and talk to customers.

You’ll enjoy listening to customers queries, be able to digest information and provide solutions.

You’ll be proactive and forward thinking – what has the customer not thought about yet?

We’ll teach you the technical expertise and how our Waste Networks work but any prior experience would be a bonus!

The right skills and experience are important. But if you have the right character, positivity and a caring attitude we want to talk to you, too.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We want people who show up and get involve. Those who are ready to be part of something bigger and who want to make a difference because they care. Is that you?

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU

Working here isn’t just a job. You can build a career at Severn Trent. We’ll reward you for it, too. We have a range of benefits that recognise great work, and award-winning training to help you reach your potential. And we’ll also help you play your part in looking after the environment and the communities where we live.

With that in mind, here are just some of our favourite perks that you’ll get being part of the Seven Trent family:

  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays (and the ability to buy/ sell up to 5 days per year)

  • Annual bonus scheme (of up to £1,500 per annum based on company performance)

  • Leading pension scheme – we will double your contribution (up to 15% when you contribute 7.5%)

  • Sharesave – the chance to buy Severn Trent Plc shares at a discounted rate

  • Dedicated training and development with our ‘Academy’

  • Electric vehicle scheme and retail offers

  • Family friendly policies (including, a year off paid for any maternity and adoption leave)

  • Two volunteering days per year
