Job description
Overview

Supporting your overall wellbeing with counselling, mental health support, life management, medical guidance, and helpful resources.

Olivia is our friendly virtual assistant, available to support you navigate through the application process 24/7. Olivia can answer common questions, guide candidates through application steps, arrange interviews, and provide timely updates to help make the recruitment process smoother and easier to navigate. While Olivia can't make hiring decisions, which are always made by real human recruiters, she ensures your recruitment journey stays smooth and accessible anytime you need.

Before we can employ you, we are required to verify your eligibility to work in the UK & Ireland. Acceptable documents to evidence your right to work can be found here. You’ll need to provide original documents such as a valid passport or a valid UK/Ireland visa (with a college letter listing term dates, where applicable). Only original documents will be accepted.

Interview and Hiring

The interview is an absolutely vital part of our hiring process. Without it, we wouldn’t get a proper picture of what kind of person you are, and whether you'd be a great fit at McDonald's. The interview will normally involve a set of questions around values and attitudes and will allow you to show us why you're the right person for the job. We look for people who have the right attitudes and behaviours to deliver a great customer and colleague experience; we hire for qualities and potential, rather than qualifications. We might ask for examples of times you've worked as part of a team and how you made a difference to that team.

What prospects do I have working at McDonald's?

Our employees tend to stick around. Partly because it's a fun, sociable and flexible place to work, but also because there are opportunities to progress into roles with more responsibility. We've also been recognised as a leading employer over the years, offering award-winning learning, nationally-recognised qualifications, comprehensive benefits and flexible working arrangements, as well as a well-proven career path.

Roles and Experience

Quite simply, you'll be working in our fast moving, high energy environment and we're looking for a genuine smile plus an ability to connect with customers and make them feel valued. Friendly, welcoming, courteous and helpful behaviour will come naturally, and you'll work well as part of a team. Effective communication skills such as attentive listening, face-to-face verbal communication and eye contact are a must. The ability to maintain high energy levels whilst working both efficiently and productively is essential.

Values

McDonald's backbone is our core values: Serve, Inclusion, Integrity, Community and Family. We live by these values every day and are committed to fostering a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace, providing quality jobs, and making opportunity open to all.

Interview Scheduling

If you are unable to make any of the interview slots offered to you in the recruitment process, you can get back in touch with Olivia and she will help you rearrange to find a suitable date.

Sustainability and Pay

Does McDonald's have sustainability plans or pledges in place? We are working to take necessary steps towards a more sustainable business and future. In 2021, we launched our first net-zero restaurant.

Shifts and Dress Code

What type of shifts will I be doing and how many? Our restaurant hours vary by location; over half of our restaurants are open 24 hours. Shifts are scheduled to suit you and business needs, with regard to working time legislation. What should I wear to work? You will be provided with a uniform.
