Job summary

Sainsbury's in the United Kingdom is seeking a Customer Assistant for night shifts to support store operations, stock handling, and customer service. You will contribute to a fast-paced, energetic team environment and ensure shelves are ready for the morning rush.

Applicants should be able to work nights, stay physically active, and adapt to changes across departments while maintaining excellent service and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Get the store ready for the day by filling shelves and working at a steady pace during the night.
• Keep workspace tidy and aisles clean for customers the next day.
• Move stock safely from warehouse to shopfloor, including heavy items.
• Work across different parts of the store, including chilled and frozen areas.
• Use equipment, handsets and digital systems to complete tasks accurately and safely.
• Assist in other areas when needed, including online order picking or serving customers at checkouts after training.

What You'll Be Doing

• Getting the store ready for the day ahead by filling shelves, working at a good steady pace throughout the night and being prepared to work with a variety of product types
• Keeping your workspace tidy for other colleagues and making sure our aisles are clean, presentable and ready for our customers the next day
• Collecting and moving stock safely from the warehouse to the shopfloor, including heavy equipment and containers
• Working across different parts of the store, which could include chilled and frozen areas
• Using equipment, handsets and digital systems to complete your work accurately and safely
• Helping in other areas when needed, which could include picking online orders or serving customers at checkouts once you're trained and confident
