Serco in the United Kingdom is recruiting a Dual Badge Officer (DBO) for Prisoner Escort Custody Services (PECS). The role involves escorting detainees, ensuring welfare, and supporting safe return or release, with 5½ weeks of paid training and clear progression.

You will operate across 24/6 shifts, with a base salary that rises over time, plus a £600 driving allowance and £900 training allowance. A first-year income around £38k is achievable with overtime.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence (B/B1) essential.
• Reasonable fitness for the physical demands of the role.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to stay calm and make decisions under pressure.
• Confidence managing behaviour and de-escalating conflict.
• Teamwork and the ability to follow processes accurately.
• Professionalism, integrity, and respect for confidentiality.
• A genuine interest in working with children and young people.

Responsabilités

• Attend briefings, receive route and detainee details.
• Carry out risk assessments and vehicle checks.
• Transport adult and young detainees in line with protocols.
• Support and engage young detainees, maintaining professionalism at all times.
• Liaise with court staff and supervise detainees at court.
• Return or hand over detainees and complete checks and paperwork.
• Manage a range of situations, including supporting vulnerable individuals.
