Job summary

You will support Custody Sergeants, perform forensic procedures, and ensure compliant care pathways, contributing to high standards of care in a challenging environment.

Qualifications

• NMC/HCPC codes of conduct
• Experience in custody healthcare setting preferred
• Ability to carry out forensic sampling and assess fitness for detention/release

Responsibilities

• Provide professional, responsive healthcare service to detained individuals in custody.
• Carry out forensic sampling as required.
• Assess fitness for detention, release, interview and understanding of processes and charges.
• Evaluate intoxication and withdrawal and obtain blood samples per applicable laws.
• Guide Custody Officers on healthcare needs and care prioritisation.
• Deliver forensic practitioner services per Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 Codes of Practice.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Stay updated with procedures and regulations.
• Collaborate with team to deliver high-quality service.
• Build relationships with Consultant FMEs, doctors, custody staff and partner organisations.
• Contribute to audits and service improvement initiatives.
