Job summary

Mitie Group plc. is seeking qualified nurses or paramedics to provide healthcare within custody suites, delivering round-the-clock care to detainees. The role requires flexibility to cover a regional area in coordination with police custody services.

Salary is £41,500 per year with a £1,000 completion bonus and a fixed 4-on/4-off shift pattern (6:45–19:00 then 18:45–07:00, rolling rota). Overtime and police vetting are part of the process.

Qualifications

• RN, RGN or RMN with dual registration: 2 years post-qualification (Band 5 minimum).
• Paramedic: 2 years post-qualification.
• Must have RTW, UK passport or ILR for 3+ years with no gaps out of the country.
• All candidates will be subject to Police Vetting.

Responsibilities

• Deliver healthcare to detainees in custody suites.
• Provide round-the-clock coverage in custody suites as agreed with the client.
• Be flexible to work across base Custody suite and the assigned region.

Applicants must have a minimum of two years' post-qualification experience in a patient-facing role within a relevant clinical setting. Suitable environments include Accident & Emergency (A&E), General Practice, Emergency Medicine, Acute Medicine, Prison Healthcare, or the Ambulance Service. This experience should demonstrate your ability to deliver high-quality care, work under pressure, and manage diverse clinical situations effectively.

You must have a Driving license

In collaboration with the Police, you'll serve in custody suites, delivering healthcare to detainees. We are dedicated to ensuring the safety of detainees with round-the-clock coverage in the custody suites, in line with a schedule agreed upon with our client.

The role requires the flexibility to work not only in your base Custody suite but across an assigned region in the Police Custody Suites and Force area

• Salary £41,500 per year

• £1000 bonus when completed 12 months service.
• Full time - this entails fixed shift working in a team rota pattern of 4 shifts on and 4 days off: 06:45 to 19:00 for 2-day shifts followed by 2-night shifts of 18:45 to 07:00, Rolling rota available 2 years in advance.
• These patterns are contractually agreed with the customer: whereas there may be opportunities for a part-time or mutually agreed “Bank” contract, we require all employees to work full shifts, and part-time employees still need to carry out some Night shifts.

• Average estimated overtime £3500 per annum

• NMC/HCPC Registration paid
