About the Role

Exciting Opportunity for Experienced General Nurse/Paramedic to join our Clinical Lead team as a Clinical Lead!

Are you a qualified general nurse or paramedic with a passion for making a difference? Do you have previous experience as a Forensic Custody Healthcare Professional or are keen to explore this dynamic field? We have a unique opportunity for you!

The post holder will have a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in an acute medical background (such as A&E, intensive care or as a Paramedic) and previous leadership and management experience.

Become part of a dedicated team serving the Cumbria region, with custody suites across Barrow, Carlisle, and Workington. The Clinical Lead will provide vital healthcare support where it's needed most.

  • Additional Benefits: Estimated £3000 overtime pay, £3000 relocation allowance (T&Cs apply), annual registration fees for NMC (£120) and HCPC (£98.12).

Additional Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS check, Police Vetting (NPPV2), and a full UK driver’s license.

The rota pattern is 4-on-4-off, with 12-hour shifts (7am-7pm & 7pm-7am), allowing you to plan personal life months in advance. The shifts include 2-day shifts, 2-night shifts, then 4 days off.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Line management, supervision, appraisals, managing performance, and CPD planning.
  • Forensic sampling, referrals, and support for vulnerabilities.
  • Delivering substance misuse therapies and assessing detainees and staff in custody.
  • Supporting high-risk individuals and managing clinical resources in police custody environments.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff, ensuring high standards of care.
Essential Qualifications
  • Qualified Registered Nurse or Paramedic.
  • At least 5 years post-qualification experience in acute medical healthcare (e.g., A&E, community nursing, police custody, etc.).
  • Leadership and management experience.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations and multidisciplinary teams.
