Job summary

Vertas is seeking a dedicated Caretaker to join the Facilities Team at All Saints CEVA Primary School in CB8 8JE. The role is 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 5.30am–8.30am, across 44 weeks per year, focusing on providing high-quality caretaking, maintenance and cleanliness.

You will carry out routine maintenance, checks on heating, lighting and alarms, manage safety records, and support ad-hoc event setup.

Qualifications

• Experience in similar caretaking or school support roles.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Willingness to undertake Health and Safety training.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day maintenance and minor repairs.
• Ensure heating, lighting and alarm systems are functioning correctly.
• Perform basic checks and maintain Health and Safety records.
• Monitor site stocks and undertake cleaning duties.
• Assist with room setup for events and late cover when needed.
• Deep clean during office closed hours.
• Operate cleaning machines and basic maintenance tasks.
• PAT testing experience is desirable.
• Paint, repairs and putting up notice boards as required.

About the Role

Based at All Saints CEVA Primary School, CB8 8JE, you will be working 15 hours a week, Mon - Fri 5.30am - 8.30am, 44 weeks per year. You'll play a key role in providing high-quality caretaking services to oversee maintenance and cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out day-to-day maintenance and minor repairs.
• Making sure that heating, lighting and alarm systems are working properly.
• Carrying out and recording basic checks and maintaining Health and Safety records.
• Monitoring site stocks and undertaking cleaning duties.
• Demonstrating Health and Safety awareness and have a willingness to attend training courses including Health and Safety (all training will be provided).
• Ad-hoc duties require cover when council meetings & events lead into the evening late – setting up rooms - tables & chairs, tea & coffee refreshments.
• Cleaning will be required as deep cleans will need to be undertaken during office closed hours.
• Experience with use of cleaning machines from carpet cleaners, hard floor cleaners, high reached dusting equipment.
• PAT Testing experience would also be desirable in this role as undertaken throughout the whole building.
• Basic maintenance knowledge helpful for this role. Painting, repairs, putting up notice boards, etc.
