Job summary

Nescot (North East Surrey College of Technology) is seeking a part-time, fixed-term leader to help drive FE and HE curriculum delivery. You will work with teams to align Apprenticeships, FE and HE, including T-Levels, supporting student progression and employer needs.

You should have a teaching qualification, strong knowledge of policy context, Ofsted requirements and a proven track record in improving student outcomes. The role involves deputy-Head duties and leadership for the curriculum area.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent professional qualification or currently working towards
• Teaching qualification (Award in Education & Training, PGCE, Cert Ed)
• Excellent knowledge of Government policy context for the curriculum
• Excellent understanding of Ofsted and other regulators including awarding bodies
• Excellent teaching and/or pastoral skills with a history of good student outcomes
• Leadership skills to identify needed interventions, plan improvements and achieve targets

Responsibilities

• Take an active role in ensuring provision is delivered in an engaging learning environment
• Deputise for the Head of School regarding departmental performance and representation
• Work with teams to develop curriculum across Apprenticeships, FE and HE ensuring alignment across FE/HE/T-Levels/Apprenticeships
• Contribute to planning and delivering a curriculum that meets funding targets and supports student and employer needs

Job description

Part time (06) / Fixed term until August 2027

What we are looking for:

• A degree/equivalent professional qualification (or currently working towards) or relevant equivalent experience
• Teaching qualification (Award in Education & Training, PGCE, Cert Ed)
• Excellent knowledge of the Government policy context for the curriculum
• Excellent understanding of the work of Ofsted and other similar regulators, including awarding bodies
• Excellent teaching and/or pastoral skills and a history of good student outcomes, or better
• The leadership skill-set of being able to identify where intervention is needed, developing a plan to secure improvement and achieving the target outcome
• Experience of the management of HE, Adult and Apprenticeship programmes is desirable but not essential

Duties/responsibilities:

• Take an active role in ensuring the provision is delivered and within an engaging and stimulating learning environment
• Deputise for the Head of School as necessary regarding performance of the department and in representation across various College responsibilities.
• To work with teams to develop curriculum across Apprenticeships, FE and HE ensuring that the FE curriculum is aligned to the HE curriculum, T-Levels and Apprenticeships to aid and support student’s internal progression
• Contribute to the planning and deliver a curriculum offer which ensures delivery of agreed funding and success targets whilst meeting the needs of students and employers.
