Job description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Curriculum Head Chef & Trainer Assessor to lead on the Hospitality and Catering curriculum, supporting learners in developing the skills, knowledge and experience they need to succeed in the industry. This exciting role combines training and assessment responsibilities with the day-to-day leadership of students in our commercial restaurant, ensuring a careful balance between meeting curriculum goals and maintaining professional kitchen standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality training and instruction across Hospitality and Catering courses, ensuring students gain hands-on experience in a real restaurant environment.
  • Lead and supervise trainee chefs, creating menus that meet curriculum requirements while serving commercial needs.
  • Assess and monitor learner progress, providing constructive feedback and supporting portfolio development.
  • Work with employers and supervisors to support learners on placements, ensuring health & safety and food hygiene standards are maintained.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to continuously develop the curriculum and maintain excellent learner outcomes.
About You
  • Relevant industry experience as a chef in a busy restaurant environment (essential).
  • A1 Assessor Award (essential); teaching qualification desirable (or willingness to work towards).
  • Experience training, instructing or mentoring learners in a catering or hospitality setting.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to inspire students.
  • Flexible approach, with some evening and weekend work required to support restaurant operations.
