Job summary

City St George’s, University of London is seeking a Curriculum Analyst in London to provide academic analysis and data tagging for the MBBS curriculum renewal. City St George’s is seeking a clinician or academic with detailed knowledge of undergraduate medical curricula to take on the role of Curriculum Analyst. The MBBS programme is undergoing major curriculum change following Periodic Review 2024, underpinned by the Curriculum Management application launched in 2023. You will provide the academic analysis, sense-checking and taxonomy expertise needed to maintain the integrity of curriculum data throughout this renewal, and will be based in the Division of Medical Education within the Department of Medicine.

Your new roles responsibilities include:
  • Participate in curriculum review and maintenance activities, modelling how data should be entered and represented in the Curriculum Management system
  • Meet educators who wish to make curriculum updates, quantify the academic work required as a result and record a clear plan for delivering it
  • Undertake academic analysis of curriculum data in any part of the curriculum, working with the data taxonomies currently under review
  • Identify how curriculum data tagging needs to be modified to enable the functionality being implemented
  • Keep clear and contemporaneous records of the findings of all analyses
  • Present findings clearly and justify the academic position taken, drawing on knowledge of the curriculum, student behaviours and business needs
  • Communicate clearly with the curriculum development manager and data officer so that findings can be implemented following approval by the academic lead
  • Check that implementation has been completed in accordance with the original intention
  • Contribute to discussions about wholesale curriculum review, on the basis of an in-depth knowledge of the data

To be successful in your application you will be a clinician or academic with a degree in medicine or a relevant discipline, experience of working with an undergraduate medical curriculum, and the ability to carry out academic analysis of large volumes of data. Excellent communication, team and interpersonal skills are essential, along with competent use of Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and Word. Experience of working with educational technologies is desirable. You should be flexible, enthusiastic, team-orientated and committed to equality of opportunity and continuing professional development.
