Job summary

London Borough of Hounslow is seeking a Culture Officer to help deliver the Council's Culture Strategy and work across cultural programmes and partnerships across the borough.

You will lead projects from planning through to delivery, evaluation and legacy, engaging residents, artists and organisations to create inclusive cultural opportunities reflecting Hounslow's diversity.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of the arts, culture or creative industries and its role in strengthening communities.
  • Ability to manage projects and programmes with creativity, organisation and attention to detail.
  • Experience building relationships and working with diverse partners and communities.
  • Ability to create engaging content for digital channels, including social media and websites.
  • Comfort using data, feedback and insights to measure impact and improve activity.
  • Proactive, adaptable and committed to making culture accessible and inclusive.

About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Hounslow's Culture and Events Team as a Culture Officer.

In this role, you'll help deliver the Council's Culture Strategy and wider Corporate Plan priorities through the development and delivery of cultural programmes, projects and partnerships across the borough. Working with residents, artists, cultural organisations, businesses and community stakeholders, you'll help create cultural opportunities that are inclusive, accessible and reflective of Hounslow's diverse communities.

You’ll lead and support a range of cultural projects, including Summer of Culture, managing programmes from planning and commissioning through to delivery, evaluation and legacy. You'll also use communications, marketing, digital engagement and audience development approaches to increase participation and raise awareness of Hounslow's cultural offer.

This is a varied role offering opportunities to develop your skills in project management, partnership working, cultural policy delivery, communications and marketing, audience development and evaluation.

About The Team You’ll Be Working In

The Culture and Events Team plays a strategic role in delivering Hounslow's cultural ambitions and ensuring culture contributes to stronger communities, placemaking, wellbeing and economic growth across the borough.

We work closely with colleagues, artists, cultural organisations, community groups, businesses and funding bodies to deliver programmes and initiatives that increase participation in arts, heritage and culture. Our work includes the delivery of the Culture Strategy, Summer of Culture and a range of cultural projects and partnerships that celebrate Hounslow's creativity and diversity.

As Culture Officer, you'll report to the Culture Manager and work closely with colleagues across the Council, including Communications, Economic Regeneration and Community Services teams, as well as a wide range of external cultural organisations, artists and community stakeholders to support the delivery of the borough's cultural priorities.

  • You have an understanding of the arts, culture or creative industries and are interested in the role culture can play in strengthening communities and places.
  • You can manage projects and programmes, balancing creativity, organisation and attention to detail to deliver positive outcomes.
  • You enjoy building relationships and working collaboratively with a diverse range of people, organisations and partners.
  • You are confident creating engaging content and using digital channels, including social media and websites, to connect with audiences.
  • You are comfortable using data, feedback and insight to understand impact and improve future activity.
  • You are proactive, adaptable and motivated to make culture more accessible, relevant and inclusive to local communities.
