Role

Provide leadership and ownership for the continued embedding and continual improvement of the framework for the application of the Culture Principle and sub-principles, providing guidance to the market in all matters relating to the Culture Principle demonstrating a clear command of the oversight of this area within the market leading to a stronger relationship with both the PRA and FCA.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the Culture Principle, sub-principles and guidance for operating within Lloyd’s. Ensure that they are consistent with Lloyd’s risk appetites and updated to ensure that Lloyd’s expectations of Managing Agents are appropriate and able to respond to any changing regulatory landscape.
  • Ensure consistent and clear documentation of the risk-based judgments and assessments made in relation to the operation of the Culture Principle and sub-principles, working closely with all other oversight areas to ensure the taking of a structured, coordinated and forward-looking approach to market oversight.
  • Contribute as a thought leader in developing and influencing the continual improvement of the Market Oversight Framework, working closely with other oversight areas of the Corporation, including to develop and implement effective strategies for the identification, monitoring and response to indicators of cultural failure and/or identify any potential systemic risks and/or advise those other areas where failures in culture may imply issues in other dimensions e.g. Governance.
  • Operate a framework for appropriate interaction with Managing Agency HR Directors, building relationships with this key stakeholder group to understand challenges impacting each business, discuss priorities and issues arising and attend relevant LMA and other HRD forums when appropriate.
  • Represent Lloyd’s in engagements with the PRA, FCA and other Regulators in relation to Culture oversight and to understand any changes to regulation or emphasis.
  • Lead interviews where Boards or Senior Management teams are under investigation and make decisions with regard to suitability or appropriate training programs required.
  • Be a Standing Attendee of the Market Oversight Group, holding a defined vote on syndicate categorization changes that relate in whole or in part to assessed maturity against the Culture Principle.
  • Be a voting member of the Misconduct Evaluation Group (MEG) and lead Lloyd’s handling and response to MEG cases which are referred to the Culture oversight team.
  • As a PBO Dimension Owner, contribute to the formation of the annual Market Oversight Plan, identifying and then leading the delivery of any thematic reviews related to the Lloyd’s Culture Principle.
  • Capture best practice and prepare case studies from firms highlighting best practice that supports Managing Agents meet expectations under the Culture principles.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally, including with the Culture, Talent & Communities function to design the MP&P and/or Culture Survey, ensuring that specific content or questions required for the oversight process are collected via these processes.
Skills
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to hold supportive yet challenging discussions on performance against the Culture principles with senior leaders in firms
  • Communication, influencing & negotiating skills – both verbal and written. Comfortable interacting with senior stakeholders internally and externally. Data analysis and insight development– including the ability to design data fields, produce analysis and shape benchmarking reports
  • Accuracy and attention to details – including the ability to work with numerous data points, utilise Microsoft Dynamics for tracking oversight process feedback, and develop best practice case studies for external audiences
  • Excel skills – including the ability to interrogate complex data sets
  • Assessment of Culture performance including related policies, programmes and metrics
  • Presentation/Public Speaking skills to large and technical or non-technical international fora
  • Ability to work between complex issues and practical application of same at a senior level
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of culture and engagement methodologies
  • Knowledge of report production and benchmarking exercises
  • Subject matter expertise in culture, diversity and/or organisational development
