Role:Cultural Education and Engagement Officer
Location: Chorley and South Ribble
Contract: Full time (36.25 hours per week) / Permanent
Salary: 30,559 - 32,654

Are you passionate about making culture and heritage accessible, engaging, and inspiring for all? Chorley and South Ribble Councils are looking for a creative and enthusiastic Cultural Education and Engagement Officer to lead the development and delivery of innovative educational and engagement programmes across our boroughs.

Working across iconic sites such as Astley Hall, Worden Hall, and South Ribble Museum, you'll play a key role in connecting communities with their local heritage through exciting activities, events, and partnerships.

What you'll be getting up to
  • Designing and delivering creative engagement and education programmes that bring local culture and heritage to life.
  • Leading group visits, workshops, and open sessions to attract new and diverse audiences.
  • Supporting the implementation of the councils' Cultural Strategies.
  • Building partnerships with schools, community groups, artists, and volunteers.
  • Helping to develop an artists' network and supporting cultural events.
  • Managing educational budgets and ensuring compliance with health and safety and GDPR regulations.
  • Working flexibly across locations and occasionally outside normal hours.
Who we're looking for
  • Someone with experience in cultural engagement, education, or public-facing roles.
  • A proven ability to lead group sessions and organise events or activities.
  • An enthusiastic, customer focused team player with an understanding of creative approaches to cultural learning and engagement.
  • A motivated individual with knowledge of school curriculum topics and relevant legislation.
Other requirements
  • This role requires some travel around our boroughs. You should have a valid driving licence or the equivalent mobility.
