Job description

Assists with supervision of Team Members as well with the day-to-day flow of assigned area. Supports Team Leadership (Retail Floor Lead or Team Leader, and Associate Retail Floor Lead) to ensure smooth operation of the store, or assigned area, to satisfy and delight our customers.

Responsibilities:

  1. Supervises and delegates tasks to Team Members.
  2. Works with Team Leadership and Store Trainer to train Team Members in a manner that builds and sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover.
  3. Assists in training of new Team Members, utilizing learning checklists and training materials.
  4. Ensures all necessary breaks are scheduled and taken by Team Members.
  5. Keeps Team Leadership apprised of team concerns.
  6. Keeps Team Leadership apprised of any attendance issues or concerns.
  7. Assists in achievement of the highest standards of retail execution.
  8. Keeps all areas, cases and shelves clean, well-stocked and properly rotated.
  9. Supports resolution of difficult customer situations.
  10. Maintains awareness of customer flows and needs and directs Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers; responds promptly to customer needs and questions.
  11. Consistently communicates and models WFM vision and goals.
  12. Follows and complies, or ensures compliance, with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, sale of alcohol and restricted items, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
  13. Maintains, or ensures maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintains equipment in accordance with WFM cleanliness and safety standards.
  14. Follows and complies, or ensures compliance, with established Cash Office and cash handling procedures, including cash handling, cash reconciliation and associated administrative responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  1. Working knowledge and application of all WFM quality goals, food handling, safety, merchandising expectations, and other standards.
  2. Strong basic math skills.
  3. Knowledge and ability to use computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and ordering systems.
  4. Excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
  5. Ability to deliver information clearly and respectfully to fellow Team Members, customers, and vendors.
  6. Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions with customers and Team Members.
  7. Ability to follow directions and procedures, effective time management and organization skills.
  8. Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency and strong attention to detail.

Experience:
  1. 12+ months retail experience preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  1. Must be able to lift fifty pounds.
  2. In an 8-hour workday: standing/walking 6-8 hours.
  3. Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
  4. Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  5. Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
  6. Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), >90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  7. Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
  8. Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
