Job summary

West Yorkshire Police is seeking a HOLMES Indexer in the Counter Terrorism Policing – North East region. The role, based in South Leeds, is a full-time permanent position (37 hours) requiring support with the HOLMES computer system for major enquiries.

You will train to use policing systems, perform Word and Excel tasks, and be prepared for flexible hours and UK-wide duties including weekends. A competitive salary and benefits package apply.

HOLMES Indexer
Counter Terrorism Policing – North East (CTP NE)
South Leeds
Full time permanent – 37 hours

An excellent opportunity has arisen to play a key role in a unique team, supporting the work of Counter Terror Policing.

In this role you will provide support using the HOLMES computer system in the investigation of Major enquiries.

You will be required to:

  • Use a secure, bespoke system as well as complete training to use policing systems
  • Be capable of successfully completing a full HOLMES Course.
  • Have basic knowledge of and ability to use computer packages such as Word Processing and Spreadsheets.

You must be prepared to work flexible hours to suit the CTP requirements and willing to work with in the UK wherever required as part of a Regional and National response. This role also includes weekend working.

The posts involve working a rota pattern including weekends, 1 week in every 4, for which you will receive relevant weekend enhancement.

The stages of recruitment are as follows:

Tuesday 6 October 2026 - Assessment
Tuesday 13 October and Wednesday 14 October 2026 – Interviews
