Overview
You will be leading a team of highly skilled individuals who deliver a 24/7 CT service across 3 CT scanners and will need good project management skills as we embark on replacing 2 scanners in 2026. We are seeking an enthusiastic, forward-thinking Clinical Lead for CT to join a dynamic Radiology team. This is a leadership role combining hands-on clinical expertise with service development in a supportive and progressive environment.

Responsibilities
- To be responsible for the management and day-to-day running of a designated specialised clinical service pertaining to the Trust.
- To be responsible for the management and development of the specialist service area ensuring optimum use of staffing and equipment resources within the modality.
- To be responsible for the professional leadership of the radiography team providing a high-quality patient-focused service.
- To maintain a sensitive and courteous approach to patients.
- To develop and improve professional expertise via continuous professional development.
- To ensure a safe working environment and maintenance of the radiographic equipment within the area.
- To rotate to other clinical areas when required dependent on skills offered.
- Maintain a high quality, smooth running, and cost-effective Computerised Tomography service.
- Ensure maintenance contracts for CT are in place and services are performed.
- Responsible for the safe and efficient use of expensive and complex technical equipment.
- Direct and support the CT Radiographers and Radiography Department Assistants who provide 365/24/7 radiology services in CT.
- Work with Radiologists to review current developments in CT and make recommendations for changes in practice informed by NICE, The Royal College of Radiologists, College of Radiographers and other guidelines.
- Take responsibility for the adequate protection of patients and staff against radiation and other occupational hazards in line with IR (ME) R 2017 and related policies.
- Ensure processes are in place to justify each request to reduce unnecessary ionising radiation exposure in accordance with IR(ME)R 2017.
- Report incidents using the Trust system and promote learning across the team.
- Report any serious, accidental or unintended radiation exposure to the Radiation Protection Supervisor and follow Trust procedures.
- Conduct a wide range of CT examinations including highly specialist techniques across diverse patient types.
- Monitor and evaluate the CT service and implement changes for improvement.
- Liaise with Consultants and other Trust staff for safe and efficient scanning of patients.
- Write, review, and revise standard operating procedures, protocols and policies in conjunction with CT Lead Radiologist and Governance leads.
- Participate in out-of-hours service as required, including weekends and public holidays.
- Lead CT staff recruitment and retention programs and perform appraisals as required.
- Provide leadership, training, and development for all CT Radiographers.
- Be responsible for staff capability, absence management and disciplinary matters.
- Ensure compliance with Trust policies and statutory learning.
- Initiate complaints/incidents procedures as required, liaising with RPS and Governance Lead.
- Answer and resolve telephone enquiries from hospital staff, GPs and other health professionals appropriately.
- Ensure safety hazards are communicated and understood by staff, patients and visitors.
- Play a key role in establishing and improving the CT quality assurance program.
- Comply with Trust and legislative requirements for confidentiality.
- Maintain and develop professional knowledge through CPD, study days, and up-to-date techniques.
- Identify topics for research and audit and participate in departmental audit and research as required.
- Assist in the delivery of care to meet individuals’ health and wellbeing needs.
- Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information.
- Promote best practice in health, safety, and security; promote equality, diversity and rights.

Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience leading a CT radiography service within a hospital setting.
- Strong leadership, project management, and staff development skills.
- Knowledge of radiation protection legislation and adherence to IR(ME)R 2017.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Radiologists, radiographers, and multidisciplinary teams.
