The Senior Practitioner – Pods' main responsibility is to safeguard and promote the welfare of young people, considering their race, culture, religion, and linguistic background. They will manage an agreed caseload of children and young people, ensuring compliance with casework objectives, statutory, and departmental policies, maintaining high professional standards, including handling complex cases.
The Senior Practitioner will undertake direct social work responsibilities as an allocated worker, investigating concerns about a child's safety or wellbeing, assessing risks and protective factors, and determining appropriate actions. They will also work long-term with families to meet needs and improve outcomes.
They will prepare high-quality reports for court, support and prepare colleagues for court proceedings, and may provide casework consultation to other social workers. Supervision of students, trainees, and less experienced staff may also be part of the role.
