CST Support Engineer

Job Description

Reports to: CST Team Leader

Location: London - Heathrow Airport all terminals

Contract Type: Permanent (42 Hours Per week, shift-based role)

Introduction to role

Working within Heathrow, the Low-Level Controls Engineer will be responsible for investigating and resolving complex technical faults in the Low-Level control equipment, including data analysis, improvement, and optimization within the baggage handling system. The engineer should have a good understanding of electro-mechanical equipment and its interfaces with low-level systems.

Role Responsibilities

This role is suitable for a detail-oriented individual who enjoys researching facts and communicating technical solutions at various organizational levels. Key aspects include accuracy, attention to detail, adherence to SOPs, rules, and standards. The ideal candidate is consistent, adaptable, precise, careful, inquisitive, and confident in their technical expertise.

Your responsibilities include:

  1. Handling complex control-related incidents
  2. Interfacing with duty managers and high-level teams during P1/P2 events, including Dog/Mass System environments, Smarteam/Enovia
  3. Fault finding communication issues between HLC and LLC components
  4. Monitoring and supporting 2nd/3rd line support for integrated technologies
  5. Being recognized as a system expert in specialized technologies and system behavior
  6. Building and maintaining good relationships with customers and Heathrow suppliers
  7. Demonstrating OEM equipment expertise to customers
  8. Maintaining customer focus and aligning with their goals
  9. Resolving incidents and fulfilling work orders within SLAs
  10. Providing detailed handovers during incidents, work orders, or investigations
  11. Maintaining and updating OEM Controls at LHR for Baggage Systems
  12. Supporting OEM PLCs, Safety PLCs, etc.
  13. Supporting documentation and software repositories
Role Qualifications and Skills
  • Electrical/controls engineering qualification preferred
  • Understanding of version control importance
  • Knowledge of PLCs
  • Knowledge of fieldbus technology
  • Knowledge of drive technologies
  • Problem-solving experience
  • Airport or material handling system experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Heathrow Baggage systems (ideal)
