Job summary

North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for a CSSD Technician to work within the Sterile Services Department at University Hospital North Tees and University Hospital Hartlepool Endoscope Decontamination Units. You will follow ISO-accredited policies and work instructions to decontaminate reusable medical devices, including endoscopes, ensuring safe and high-quality care for patients.

• Receipt, sorting and preparing of reusable medical devices including endoscopes for cleaning and disinfection.
• Inspection, re-assembly, function testing, packaging, sealing and labelling of reusable medical devices that have been washed, disinfected and dried.
• Carry out required independent checking of instrument trays (for others) ensuring contents are correct and reporting discrepancies.
• Maintaining awareness of basic types and categories of instruments and flexible scopes, and identifying inspection and test procedure points.

Job description

Working as part of a team you will be involved in the complete decontamination and sterilisation process for reusable instruments and medical devices including endoscopes, following the ISO accredited policies, procedures and work instructions within the department’s quality system.

As a CSSD Technician you will play a key role in delivering all decontamination related duties based within the Sterile Services Department at both University Hospital North Tees and University Hospital Hartlepool Endoscope Decontamination Units.

The post holder will work in line with the departmental work instructions, whilst adhering to the ISO accredited policies and procedures in all aspects of the Sterile Services Department and flexible endoscope decontamination.
